Whistlestop Tales: Around the Bible with 10 Extraordinary Children
Krish and Miriam Kandiah have done a superb job picking ten Bible characters, a mixture of better- and lesser-known, who struggled in some way with something that made them ‘different’. Mephibosheth couldn’t walk, Zacchaeus was short, Martha was anxious, and so on.
The stories in ‘Whistlestop Tales’ are preceded by real-life stories of children the Kandiahs have known through their fostering journey, each of whom bear some similarity to the Bible character we’re about to meet. It’s a great way to pique children’s interest before each story, which are told with a lot of imagined ‘extras’ to help us better understand the challenges that person faced. And for the real, unabridged, nothing-added version, the Bible reference is given at the end of each chapter.
