What Are Eyes For?
‘What Are Eyes For?’ follows the same formula of positive things to do with the body part in focus. Then it moves on to negative behaviour. Jesus is introduced as the perfect role model. ‘What Are Eyes For?’ explains how Jesus followed God’s plan, then talks about how if we are tempted to do things we shouldn’t, we can say sorry and God will forgive us. The book then introduces the Holy Spirit who helps us become more like Jesus. It finishes on something we can do with our body to praise God.
I love books which combine practical life lessons for kids with a spiritual element and ‘What Are Eyes For?’ does this so well. A Christian perspective on things so many kids struggle with – like not listening to lies and not looking down on others – and most importantly talks about Jesus and the forgiveness he gives.
‘What Are Eyes For?’ is particularly good for toddlers as the flaps are big enough for their hands but there are lessons in these for older children too. It is beautifully illustrated.
