Twelve Bible Princesses
They’ve grown out of Disney princesses! But actually, with a large amount of text and few pictures, plus a hefty application section at the end of each story, both girls thought ‘Twelve Bible Princesses’ was more aimed at the 8-12 age bracket than any younger.
Twelve Biblical women have their stories beautifully and artistically told – yes, with a little licence, but largely faithful to the Bible – in around three A4 pages of text (with one A4 colour illustration). There then follows an application section which includes interesting information about the character’s name and what it means, a sometimes-tenuous connection to a fruit of the Spirit, a linked Bible verse, some teaching, a challenge and a prayer.
‘Twelve Bible Princesses’ is not strictly a devotional, but given how well it initially went down with my daughter, I think we might treat it as one, reading a different story and its application each night. Both girls enjoyed the story and the application generated good discussion. ‘Twelve Bible Princesses’ is a beautiful book which helps girls get into the Biblical women in a deeper way.
