The True King

The story of salvation from Genesis to Revelation points to the true king Jesus.

‘The True King’ is perfect for kids 6+ who love stories about kings, kingdoms, princes and princesses. The overarching message of the book is about the Great King, God, and the True King, Jesus, and the ultimate defeat of the serpent king, the devil. It is very faithfully written and introduces families to big themes of Bible like creation, the fall, the promised king through the line of Abraham, King David, birth of Jesus, crucifixion and the future forever kingdom.

The book is quite text-heavy, so we preferred read-aloud sessions over independent reading. We read a few pages at a time, dipping in and out of the kids’ Bible for more clarity.

‘The True King’ is good for kids who are beginning to make connections between the themes of Bible. It’s also a great way to introduce theology in a simple way, because of a depth rarely seen in picture books – like the pouring out of the Holy Spirit in tongues of fire for instance.
