The Night Before Christmas
This light-hearted story, based on the classic festive poem, is a fantastic retelling of the Christmas story.
It is humorous and engaging for children (and adults) of all ages.
The story starts in a recognisable, western Christmas scene as a family waits for Christmas. It then transports us to ancient Bethlehem – and not the sanitised version we often hear of. ‘The Night Before Christmas’ strips away ideas of elves, festive food and Christmas specials on TV. Instead it charts the story, going back to King David.
‘The Night Before Christmas’ is beautifully illustrated with contemporary style with diverse skin tones represented. This story is one which will no doubt be loved, treasured and returned to each year. I could also see it being used as the basis of a nativity play at a school or church.
