The Man in the Tree and the Brand New Start

By Carl Laferton

Another book that has been beautifully illustrated by Catalina Echeverri.

Part of the ‘Tales that Tell the Truth’ series, ‘The Man in the Tree and the Brand New Start’ is a great retelling of Jesus and Zacchaeus. The book uses repetition to show Zacchaeus’ transformation, and makes the story relevant to children today. It gives a form of words readers can use to become friends with Jesus, and what I love is that it shows how knowing Jesus transforms our lives here and now.

I read this to my youngest son (aged 4) at bedtime and he was silent and still, captivated, taking it all in. This imaginative retelling is suitable for a wide age range and would be worth adding to a home or church library.
