The Magnificent Moustache and other stories
‘The Magnificent Moustache’ is actually only one of six stories contained in this lovely book, and each one is enticingly original, beautifully written, and totally attention-grabbing. They capture the best of traditional story-telling with some modern contexts and references.
The author of ‘The Magnificent Moustache’, Jenny Sanders, is a Christian, but these stories have no overtly Christian context – they’re simply lovely, good, kind, wholesome stories which are a joy to read. Each one took us around 20 minutes – perfect for bedtime reading – and, as chapter books were our norm at this age, we loved the novelty of getting to the end of each story within one bedtime! The language is fairly sophisticated, so I wouldn’t go much younger than 8 with this book, and you could enjoy them up to age 11/12. I loved reading my boys words I knew were new to them, but which they could usually understand in the context.
‘The Magnificent Moustache’, is quirky, original, fun and engaging. Nothing not to like!
