The Lion Children's Bible
Most of us have a Lion Children’s bible lining our bookshelf. This was also our very first bigger text Bible to read aloud to our then-toddler when we transitioned from bible story board books. What sets apart this new edition is the easy-read, dyslexia-friendly format making the bible more accessible for children who might struggle to read.
‘The Lion Children’s Bible’ features familiar stories from both Old and New Testaments with lovely illustrations like an old world charm with modern sensibilities. The bible feels more compact than earlier editions. It would be a good bible for children starting to gain confidence in reading larger texts per page and has been appropriately worded for easier understanding. It can also be used to read aloud to toddlers and preschoolers.
Though most of the popular stories find their way into this modern edition, it would have been commendable if some more passages from the New Testament had been included beyond the book of Acts – like epistles and Revelation – so that children could learn more about how the early church was, what following Jesus looks like in everyday life and how our future would be with Jesus.
