The Great Escape

If you're looking at Exodus in your church, kids work or just at home, this is a brilliant book for lower primary-aged kids (and pre-schoolers with a decent attention span) to help them understand the narrative even more.

Written entirely in rhyme (with perfect scansion!), it really is a deep dive into the exodus – we get all the plagues, the eventual release of God’s people, and the parting of the red sea.

But then author Tim Lock brings the teaching closer to home: “We might not be slaves in a far-away land of smouldering sun and hot, golden sand, but we’re far from perfect – and need rescue too, and we can’t save ourselves, whatever we do”. This then segues into a beautiful few pages explaining the gospel, how and why Jesus came, what he did and what impact it’s had on our relationship with God.
