The Further Adventures of Isabella M. Smugge

I’ve adored Isabella ever since the first book – but I have to say this series keeps getting better! The plot lines become more varied and intriguing, the characters more numerous and well-rounded, and Isabella’s character and faith journey move in an increasingly satisfying direction.

In ‘The Further Adventures of Isabella M. Smugge’, Issy has various new challenges to face – including organising her mother’s wedding, dealing with an aggressive new step-sister, hosting a house group and dipping her toe into the world of dating again.

If you’re looking for a fun and easy read which is engaging and funny – this is it! I’d recommend starting from the first book (because why would you want to miss anything?) but there’s a handy recap at the start of this one, so you wouldn’t be too much out of the loop if you started here.

There is some ‘light’ faith content which grows as the books progress – and, according to author Ruth Leigh, the books are often enjoyed by those who aren’t Christians. If you’re buying for a friend of a different faith, or no faith, I’d start with book one and see how they find it. I’m as certain as I can be (without knowing your friend) that they’d become as addicted as I am.
