The Emperor’s New Clothes and Other Stories
I'm a big fan of nurturing faith in all sorts of different ways, according to the season in our busy lives, and with the natural ebb and flow of our kids' spiritual lives.
Sometimes our kids are up for full-on Bible devotionals, and that’s great. At other times they’re not, but they’re also not opposed to any Christian input whatsoever. At times like those, you want a book like ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’.
Suitable for any child who enjoys a chapter book (my 8-year-old twin boys really enjoyed them), this is a collection of folk stories, each one stand alone, some of them familiar (like the title story), others less so, but each one with a ‘thought’ at the end to link it to a Bible passage or principle of Christian living. ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ is like dipping your toes into the Bible in a fun way without going all in – perfect for your ‘on-the-fencers’.
