The Diary of Isabella M. Smugge
By Ruth Leigh
Isabella M. Smugge is a Mummy Influencer of the very worst kind - but when she moves to the country and enrols her kids in the local state school (good for the socials, dah-ling), her life expands in ways she never expected.
Her diary is a fabulously snooty romp through the parenting highs and lows we all experience, underneath the glamour – but when her life falls apart, it is her new friends who come to the rescue.
You’ll actually really warm to Isabella, who is – beneath the veneer – incredibly well-meaning. A glance into her family background gives you sympathy for her, as does the way the plot unravels…but no spoilers here! ‘The Diary of Isabella M. Smugge’ is a fun tale of friendship and love which I couldn’t put down. (I think it was 2am the night/morning I finished this…)
