The whole series is worth it. However, I have to say I enjoyed ‘The Continued Times of Isabella M Smugge’ even more than the first two (and I didn’t think that was possible).

Blogger and influencer Issy is smashing life as a single-mum-of-four – but now her cranky, gin-swigging mother is living with her, things are not plain sailing. With problems in the wider family, a slimy ex-husband and the normal ups and downs of life with fellow playground mum friends, Issy finds herself spinning rather a lot of plates.

‘The Continued Times of Isabella M Smugge’ gives a real sense of author Ruth Leigh having settled into the character of Issy. Like a fine wine, the story has matured, and we get to know a wider range of characters we’ve only known in passing up till now. If you’re looking for a cosy, easy read, but want a bit of substance and depth with it, grab this book. (It’d make a great gift for your female friends and relatives too!)
