The Big Wide Welcome

James’ example of how you might treat a rich man who comes to your church, versus how you might treat a poor man, is then expanded to teach children that discriminating on the basis of disability, skin colour, accent or who our friends deem cool isn’t how God wants us to live.

I love how this is then put into context of James having grown up with Jesus (they were brothers!). And Jesus didn’t show favourites – he loves everyone and died for everyone. Overall, ‘The Big Wide Welcome’ is a great book which takes a non-narrative Bible passage and makes it accessible and applicable to under 8s. Brilliant.
