Say Goodbye to Anxiety: A 40-Day Devotional Journal to Overcome Fear and Worry
However, having some experience of walking with friends through this, I thought ‘Say Goodbye to Anxiety’ was a beautifully-produced, helpful and sensitive guide. Both authors have experienced anxiety to a fairly crippling extent, so share the verses and Biblical truths that got them through.
I feel like everyone is going to have a different obstacle to surmount when it comes to overcoming a mental illness, so it’s quite possible you could read ten of these devotions with no impact whatsoever, but the 11th hits the spot. That’s the beauty of ‘Say Goodbye to Anxiety’: it covers a lot of ground, you just need to stick with it to find the bit that resonates and helps. Each day comes with a Bible verse or two, an easy-to-read devotional (yay for short paragraphs), a suggested song, some journalling space and a prayer.
‘Say Goodbye to Anxiety’ is designed for adults, but you could also use it with an anxious teen, or give it to them to work through on their own. I also appreciated the unisex design: it doesn’t feel overly ‘girly’ – I think guys would happily use this book too. When minds are anxious, it can affect attention span, so I appreciated that each day’s reading was short, simple and easy to understand. Be under no illusion though: the insights are deep and rich.
