Reflected in Nature

‘Reflected in Nature’ is divided into four sections corresponding to the four seasons – literally and metaphorically – with ten devotions in each season. The main theme is seeing the beauty of creation and the handiwork of the Creator God in each devotion and the book does not need to be read in any particular order.

Each devotion begins with an anecdote on an element of nature – sun, sky, snow, flowers, seeds etc, a few related personal stories or a general nugget of information followed by a brief exposition on the topic for the day. The author introduces a fitting Bible verse for each day and binds it all together neatly with gentle reference to an attribute of God or an important truth about the Christian faith. The questions and prayer at the end wraps up each day poignantly.

What stands out about this devotional is how deep truths are shared in simple language without making it academic or overwhelming for readers who are not familiar with Bible or Christian “language “. The truths about salvation and Biblical references are so gentle yet impactful, that it would make a lovely gift or starting point for a new believer or someone you’d like to share the gospel with. The complementing artwork for each devotion adds an element of awe and wonder. It could be a conversation starter and a ‘coffee table’ devotional: not so much to glean for seasoned believers, but one can always humbly enjoy a work of art and different perspectives.
