Prayer Journal: Daily Prayers, Gratitude & Affirmations
If you’re looking for something to help your child’s overall mental and emotional health, which also acts like a devotional and tilts your child’s perspective towards God, ‘Prayer Journal’ is the book!
Written by Anna of small Christian biz Etchd Creative (and also a Hope Triber!) and aimed at 6+, it’s A4 in size – plenty of space for small hands to write – and lasts 12 weeks. Each week starts with a simple Bible verse – something themed around our identity – a few simple questions which could be answered in writing or verbally – and then a few days of ‘journal’ pages. These stick to the same format, but with slightly different prompts each day, a mixture of faith-based and wellbeing-based. Examples include: “thank you for”, “I’m praying for”, “today I smiled because”, “tomorrow I’m looking forward to” – with affirmations, fun facts and activities dotted through the whole journal. Each day also features a ‘today I felt’ emoji scale, which is a lovely way of checking in with your child each day.
I can see ‘Prayer Journal’ being a helpful resource for after-school wind-down time, or bedtime reflection. I also love the fact that kids can mull over just one verse for an entire week, and get to know it really well.
