Kai: Born to be Super
Around the time ‘Kai’ was published, we had a conversation in the Ignite Facebook group about how Christian children’s authors could better make known what they are offering to potential customers – ie Christian families. It really pains me that the books which get high publicity are not always the ones which are the best resources. I’ve had some disappointing stuff sent to me by well-known publishers. On the other hand, when you find a super author like Joy Vee, who is self-published and therefore has a very small marketing budget/platform, I want to do my utmost to make her better known.
My kids have read several of her books now, and honestly they are hooked. Joy creates just the kind of scenarios that draw children in, believable but with interesting plots. And then she weaves Jesus in so naturally in a way that prompts conversation and makes you think. Some kids are resistant to reading the Bible – but Christian fiction offers them a gentler way in to matters of faith.
This instalment of ‘Kai’ is a short-ish chapter book with a great message: I read it to my 7 year old boys and they loved it. Buy ‘Kai’ for the 5-8s in your life: you won’t regret it!
