Joseph and the Very Strange Dreams
All the important bits have been left in, whilst anything scary, confusing or hard to understand has been omitted. ‘Joseph and the Very Strange Dreams’ centres around opposites – e.g. Joseph had 10 BIG brothers and 1 LITTLE brother, he had a dream one NIGHT and here’s what he did the next DAY, his brothers pushed him DOWN into the well but later pulled him back UP to sell him to Egyptian traders etc.
There’s a lovely refrain which occurs three times throughout ‘Joseph and the Very Strange Dreams’ and serves as a brilliant mantra for kids to remember: “The Lord has a plan and he’s working it out, he speaks words we can trust so there’s no need to doubt”. The rest of the book isn’t in rhyme, so the rhyming refrain definitely sticks in the mind. The illustrations – as with the others in this series – are highly engaging, and the written language superb for the preschool/early school target age.
