I Thought There Would Be Cake
I'm so glad I took the plunge and finally delved into this book, which had been sitting by my bed for ages!
‘I Thought There Would Be Cake’ is a personal account of mental health struggles from a faith perspective, but it doesn’t particularly tell a story of decline. Rather, author Katharine clearly articulates a variety of thought patterns common to her (and many of us) in adulthood, how they can easily spiral downwards, and what we can do about it.
Katharine is the first to say this is not a self-help book – but everyone (regardless of their mental health) will find comfort and solidarity in the words she writes so beautifully. An honest and brave account of how we can live with mental ill health when healing doesn’t come.
