Home Truths with Lady Grey
I found myself completely absorbed in the characters and plot of ‘Home Truths with Lady Grey’. Young mother Mona, of Iranian heritage, becomes the carer to Jennifer, once an affluent career-girl, now struck down by Motor Neurone in her 50s. The intertwining of these two stories and cultures makes for an evocative read.
It took a while to get used to the highly-descriptive writing style in ‘Home Truths with Lady Grey’, different to most novels I read, and I’d have liked a little more interaction between the ladies (most of the book is taken up with their individual stories) but both stories are highly engaging, and all the characters – even the minor ones – are so well-rounded that it didn’t take long for this to become a book I couldn’t put down.
