Helen Roseveare: The Doctor Who Kept Going No Matter What
And ‘Helen Roseveare’ doesn’t disappoint! What an exciting story. My twins, at age 8, were riveted by her daring exploits as a single female doctor in Congo, including serious illness and imprisonment. I love that such courageous ladies of faith are being honoured in these books – but I think most of all, I love the way these stories plant seeds into our kids’ minds that following Jesus demands our all…and yet when we’re obedient in this, he provides 100% for our needs.
As always, this hardback book is full of beautiful illustrations, and I particularly like the sensitive picture on the imprisonment page – the black silhouette scribble gives the impression of torture without needing any graphic images.
‘Helen Roseveare’ is a great gift for any younger primary-aged child – particular one who wants to be a doctor!
