Dreaming of a Green Christmas: Sustainability and creation care for busy people

I was excited to dive into this little book, as it’s published by BRF (my former employer) and written by a former colleague! Olivia is a kind and wise person, with kids a little older than mine, so I was eager to read her tips for a more sustainable and eco-friendly family Christmas as someone who has been there before me.

But ‘Dreaming of a Green Christmas’ is actually so much more than practical tips (of which there are plenty). There are little bible reflections dotted throughout, where Olivia takes the opportunity to encourage and challenge us with some ‘key principles’ in the area of sustainability.

‘Dreaming of a Green Christmas’ is not judgy – in fact the opening sentences are wonderfully freeing: “Somehow, whenever the environment is mentioned, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and that we should be perfectly green in every part of our lives…The story of the widow’s offering shows us that small is beautiful and that condemnation has no part to play here.”
