Boss of the Cross
At first, we were a bit like WHAT THE HECK IS THIS? As you will know if you have read my review of The Best Family Worship Songs (Which Won’t Make you Cringe), we rather like family worship music which, er…doesn’t make you cringe. And ‘Boss of the Cross’ did – at first listen. Even the 7-year-old was not impressed.
But with 31 tracks (not a typo – but don’t worry, they’re all pretty short), it didn’t take us too long to discover that, in fact, we loved the deliberate silliness of much of the music in ‘Boss of the Cross’. I heard spoofs of David Bowie, The Who and Ian Dury within these tracks!
‘Boss of the Cross’ would be a brilliant CD to whack on in the car on long road trips, especially as the words are solid and gospel-centred. Perhaps it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I dare you to give it a go, especially at Easter.
