Bible Study
‘Bible Study’ is a very well written and concise introduction to what bible study looks like and how it is different from bible reading. It gives wonderful encouragement, especially for new believers to familiarise themselves with close examination of God’s Word for spiritual growth, drawing closer to God, a deeper understanding of the bible and how it transforms hearts and minds for daily life and eternity.
There’s a useful chapter on the blessings of bible study, to whet the appetite for nourishment in the riches of God’s word. For those who don’t know where to start with studying the bible, there is a clear plan on what, where, when, how often and how long to study the bible.
The book builds on the foundations of study with helpful insights on context, genre and the big picture of the bible – as well as some practical ideas, like the inductive bible study method. There are helpful questions at the end of each chapter for small groups and a wonderful list of resources towards the end for further study (although with perhaps a bit too much endorsement for the ESV study bible).
‘Bible Study’ is part of a series called ‘Disciplines of Devotion’ – with booklets on specific spiritual disciplines like prayer, fasting, sabbath among others.
