Bella Finds Grace

One day Alan, her hedgehog friend shows her pictures from his holiday. Grace feels sad because even though she had carefully packed her map and snack, she got lost. She does not have any holiday stories to share. Alan helps her to realise that she has a gift of kindness and creativity – even though words, numbers, directions become muddled for her due to dyslexia. Alan introduces Bella to a new text called ‘Grace’. With the help of this new font, Bella is very happy because the words don’t ‘wobble, fly or jiggle at their own will’. She can continue to go on her adventures and not feel scared or lost because she can now read.

‘Bella Finds Grace’ is a wonderful book to introduce the ‘Grace’ typeface to children and adults who might struggle to read because of dyslexia. The font is bigger, bolder and more widely spaced so might be helpful in improving readability. The story is sweet and the illustrations are lovely to engage young children. Book can be used for raise awareness about dyslexia and how it affects children. There are QR codes at the end of the book to find out more about dyslexia and other Grace typeface resources available.
