Abigail and the Summer Situation

Another great book in the Abigail series. These are wonderful books for 7-11 year olds.

Relatable characters and real life situations make them a really fun read while also being full of great Bible truths.

“Abigail and the Summer Situation” tells the story of how, during the summer, Abigail attends Bible Club, where her memory verse is 1 John 4:19 – “We love because he first loves us”. Her non-Christian friend Maggie’s family do not allow her to attend, and the book sees Abigail trying to live out this verse in their relationship. It’s a great introduction to a tricky topic – sharing the gospel with non believers. Abigail doesn’t always get it right and there are a lot of emotions involved: fear, hope, frustration, disappointment.

Throughout the book Abigail learns how to show the love of Jesus to her friends through her words and actions. She uses Biblical examples such as Zaccheus, Paul and Lydia to help her understand this.

My 11 year old says “This is an important book for children to read because lots of us have friends who aren’t Christian. This shows you how to talk about Jesus to them without being disrespectful of their beliefs or their family”.
