Abigail and the Career Day Catastrophe
That’s how my 11 year old summed up this book!
Abigail is a normal 9 year old girl, doing normal 9 year old girl things. At school she has to decide what she wants to be when she grows up. Abigail is unsure but knows she wants to do something good for God. She thinks this means she has to be perfect but soon realises this isn’t easy! Abigail tries super hard to be good so that God will be proud of her but comes to realise that she can’t earn God’s love by being perfect. Through conversations at church and with her family she learns more about grace through the story of Paul.
There is a lot of good Bible teaching in this story but it never feels forced. Family conversations about faith seem natural and are a great example of how we should speak with our children. Highly recommended for KS2 and I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.
