A Place at The Table: Faith, Hope and Hospitality
But honestly I think any Christian adult would appreciate ‘A Place at The Table’. Miranda Harris was one of the founders of A Rocha, the Christian conservation charity, and died tragically in a car accident in October 2019. In the aftermath of her death, whilst clearing out her study, Miranda’s daughter Jo Swinney, an author in her own right, found an outline for a book about hospitality, and decided to complete it. The result is a warm-hearted, wide-reaching book about how we open our lives and hearts to others, structured around the different stages of a meal.
‘A Place at The Table’ has plenty to say about food waste, our love/hate relationship with food, the busyness of family life and how we welcome others. The chapters are sandwiched by excerpts from Miranda’s diary, giving a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the early days of setting up A Rocha, and how hospitality was at its very core from the beginning.
