A Brief Theology of Periods (Yes, Really)

I'd never really thought about periods from a Biblical viewpoint - does anybody? - but this thoughtfully-written book does a great job of educating us all, with humour and grace.

In ‘A Brief Theology of Periods’, we read about how periods fit in to all of creation, what they tell us of God and ourselves, how to rid the world of period-shame (but also to avoid the concept of ‘period-power’ where it leaves God out of the equation), and how the menstrual cycle reminds us of our mortality, and the wonderful heaven that awaits us.

In ‘A Brief Theology of Periods’, Rachel Jones expertly treads the narrow line between thinking of periods as embarrassing and shameful, and using them to big-up women’s power and rights. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy this book – but I really did.
