31 Bedtime Prayers & Poems for Kids

We got this as a birthday present for our 6-year-old daughter as she likes to read poems. 

’31 Bedtime Prayers & Poems for Kids’ is a good book to establish night time routine and encourage growing kids who might have fears and worries. There are short, beautiful rhymes on an array of topics which talk through what kids think or feel, offer words of encouragement, inspire thankfulness and gently lull kids to sleep with the lyrical imagery. A good start for kids starting to read independently or to read aloud to kids who like the comforting voice of parent/caregiver putting them to sleep. The illustrations are lovely and complement the sing-song nature of poems. We especially enjoyed the ‘Drop, drip, sleep, slip’ poem for the tongue twister and the laughs. 

The book could have been better if in colour, although the illustrations are superb, even in black and white. However, I cannot ignore the editing mistakes. The poems are not in order as per the index. Sometimes we love to go back to a favourite poem, so page numbers would have saved the trouble of sifting through the whole book. Also, there are random blank pages which makes you wonder if there is a printing error.
