10 Women who Overcame their Past

A hefty and sincere read. It goes deep quickly, both emotionally and theologically, and I found myself needing to slow down to really take it in.

That said, there’s something quite powerful about that depth as it doesn’t skim over pain or struggle but faces it head-on.

The premise of ’10 Women who Overcame their Past’ is compelling: looking at ten women and exploring how God meets them in their brokenness, shame, or difficult pasts, and brings transformation. What stands out very early on is the honesty, as none of the stories are sanitised or “tidy”, thus the author draws out the complexity of their situations and invites us to see how God works in and through the mess that can be life.

From the opening chapter onwards, this is not a quick, light devotional but more of a reflective study that asks you to engage personally and to consider your own story alongside those in Scripture who have struggled yet overcome.
